Soil quality, topography, frost line depth and terrain are some of the factors that are present on the land and are factors in landscaping.
By combining elements that are able to blend with a man’s technology into natural surrounding is enhanced by landscape design. Attractive and functional parks, gardens, playgrounds, campuses, residential areas and public spaces are done by landscapers. Aside from making attractive and functional the various environment spaces they also plan location of roads, walkways, flowers, shrubs, trees and buildings.
Balance, form, color, unity, simplicity, texture and scale are the elements of landscape design. The design with the rest of the property in relation with the plants is the scale. The central part of design is color which brings life while at the same time creates mood. Color theory is important when choosing color which is basically the mixing or combining of different colors to create specific color combinations.
Some of the color schemes that can be considered are primary, secondary and tertiary. Orange, green and purple are secondary colors, primary colors are red, yellow and blue and tertiary colors are a combination of both. The visual surface of plants and hardscape in the design is texture. The appearance of texture is seen through flowers, bark and plant leaves.
Form is the shape of the plants in your design. Individuals plants break up a repeating pattern and low spreading plants draw the eye to the horizon are some of the plant shapes that influence the form to use. The other element is balance in which controls the color, scale, form and texture. So that the balance is properly weighted there are two types of balance which include symmetrical and asymmetrical A more formal approach which uses a center line of the area being designed and creates a mirror image of the design on the side of the center line is symmetrical balance. An element that manages consistency and repetition is unity.
